This 2021 vintage ended up being a perfect vintage, thanks to Mother Nature! The growing season unfolded under nearly ideal weather conditions, with a warm spring and a summer that embraced warmth without excessive heat. While we endured a few days above the century mark, they were rare, allowing for optimal ripening. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eWinemaking Style:\u003cspan style=\"white-space:pre;\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"white-space:pre;\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003eCabernet Franc has been blended into other wines we have produced in years past, but in 2020 we decided to produce our first single varietal Cabernet Franc.  This wine was a hit, and the 2021 Vintage is as well! Livermore Valley grows Cabernet Franc exceptionally well and allows for a bold wine with great acidity.  \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eThe Wine:\u003cspan style=\"white-space:pre;\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"white-space:pre;\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003eMcGrail Vineyards' Cabernet Franc was the first from the Lucky 8 Vineyard in the Livermore Valley with our 2020 vintage. This 2021 vintage is elegant and has a distinctively smooth finish. Its aromatic bouquet is a symphony of black cherry, blackberries, cassis, sweet violets, and sweet peas. These scents are enriched over time, revealing notes of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, and a subtle essence of black tea. On the palate, it offers a powerful burst of black cherry and milk chocolate-covered cherries, balanced by a good acidity and soft tannins, leading to a long finish with black fruits, black pepper, and refreshing acidity.
